On Monday, 3/23, 2009 The Oceanic Library Board and staff bid farewell to long time board member and volunteer Jane Conger.  Jane served the library Board for many years and has been a volunteer at the Library since the late 1980's.  In addition to her work at the Library, she was an active volunteer for numerous organizations in our area, including Clean Ocean Action, The Girl Scouts, Planned Parenthood and the English Speaking Union.   We wish Jane all the best as she starts her new life in upstate New York.

On Sunday, January 25, 2009, The Oceanic Library honored Anne E. Wissel and  Barbara Woolson Dillon, former  librarians of the town who had contributed many years of service as Directors.  The afternoon party also paid tribute to many faithful volunteers over the years: Mary George, Jane Conger, Elena King and Julie Lembeck.  Lolly Ekdahl, President of the Library Board of Directors,  gave an informative talk about the history of the Meeker family and their role in the establishment of the Oceanic Library.  Delicious hors d’oeuvres were made by our own Maureen Oberdorf, Vice President of the Board of Directors.

A plaque honoring our past librarians was dedicated on January 25, 2009:
